Who Runs This Site

This site is run by Jayanth Subramanyan, an author based in India. For any question about your information, write to [email protected].

In Short

  • No advertising and no tracking cookies. Readers are given no cookies at all.
  • The newsletter keeps your email address, and only after you confirm it.
  • Comments keep only your words and the name you give, if any.
  • Nothing is ever sold.

The Newsletter

When you subscribe, your email address goes to Kit (kit.com), the service that sends the letters. Kit keeps it, with the date you joined. You are added only after you click the button in the confirmation letter, so nobody can sign up an address that is not theirs.

Like most newsletter services, Kit notes whether a letter is opened and which links are clicked. Your address is used for these letters and nothing else. Every letter has a one-click unsubscribe, or write to hello@ and you will be taken off the list. Kit is based in the United States and keeps its records there; see Kit’s privacy policy. Your address is kept because you asked for the letters. That is the only ground for keeping it, and unsubscribing takes it back.

Comments

The comment form asks for your words and, if you like, a name. Those are kept, with the date and the post, in a database run by Cloudflare. No email address and no IP address are kept.

Every comment is read before it appears, and not every one is published. To have a comment removed, write to hello@ with the post and roughly when you wrote it. Since no email address is kept, there is no way to write to you about your comment.

The Spam Check

When you open the comment form, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you are a person and not a program. It looks at signals from your browser for that check alone, not for advertising; see Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Counting Visits

Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits: which pages are read, how often, and roughly from which country. It uses no cookies, does not follow you to other sites, and cannot pick out any one visitor.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Cloudflare. As with any website, your IP address reaches Cloudflare’s servers when a page loads; that is how the page finds its way back to you. This site’s own code never stores it. The buy buttons use your country, as Cloudflare sees it, to send you to your own Amazon store. It is not stored. The fonts are kept on the site itself, so no font service hears of your visit.

Writing to hello@

Email to [email protected] is passed on by Cloudflare to the author’s own inbox. Cloudflare forwards it without keeping a copy, and it is kept there as ordinary correspondence.

Other Sites

Links to Amazon, Facebook, Instagram and X take you to sites with their own privacy rules.

Your Information, Your Say
